amy here, again. russ started a temporary job today at vandy (this is how the locals refer to vanderbilt university). he is working in their main supply warehouse, which provides anything from light bulbs to lumber for the various departments around the campus.
we visited a wonderful church yesterday called mosaic. we met some really great people and are excited to learn more about it. tomorrow night, we'll be going to a gathering they have monthly called the table. it's a time where we'll be able to have a meal with more of the church members and get to know them better.
i had a couple of meetings with folks in the music industry, all who have encouraged me in my pursuit of songwriting and performing here in nashville. the next step is to begin playing out at various venues around town–most likely in an open mic setting. the competition is great in this city, but it also makes for a wonderful networking base. it seems i will have some opportunities coming up in the near future to be in the studio recording bgv's (background vocals) for some other projects that my friend stephen leiweke is producing. things are happening…
jane continues to sleep, eat, and be generally entertaining. she has developed an interesting tendency to "protect" her territory by barking at anyone who appears–whether friendly or not. she doesn't mean to be vicious, i think it's just the first time in a long time she's felt as though she had something to protect. and the back yard really is pretty much all hers. (except for the squirrels and birds who were here first and probably aren't thrilled at her presence) she's also grown quite fond of being completely covered by her blanket (see floto to the left) if it happens to slip off her head, she does her best to nuzzle back up under it. truly hilarious!
we've scheduled our first road trip of the new year. we'll be headed down to atlanta for the weekend at the end of january to visit an old friend of mine from my days with ywam (youth with a mission), and perhaps one of my many cousins. it's about a 3 hour drive, which according to denver standards, is "minor traveling time". we're looking forward to seeing a new city!
okay, that's all for tonight. check back soon, though, because there's sure to be more FLOG shortly!
